Day 26: Dryococelus australis

Holy moly! That took me so many hours! I've made a Tree lobster (Dryococelus australis) They are the biggest stick bugs ever! They look like big black walking poos to me. They also have a sad story: They nearly went instinct when a ship wrecked near the island where the bugs lived and some rats survived. They loved eating these giant insects and they ate them all in 2 years time. They were thought to be extinct for 80 years, but then some people discovered about 24 of these bugs on the rocks. They took a male and female to a zoo to reproduce and preserve the species. The one I drew is a female.

For some reason I let myself go in the detailing. It was so much fun, but it took me so many hours. I really need to crawl into bed now...
